Funky Beasts is a hybrid Art RPG and Dice Roleplay inspired by settings such as Jet Set Radio and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, as well as Beastars and Brand New Animal. Spark City is a vast and urban environment, based architechturally on cities such as Tokyo and New York City. A corrupt government and police force looms over the outcasts of the city, threatening their way of life. The city's writer scene is vast, and although technically the amount of crews is impossible to document, a few have really caught Spark City's eye.
The city's response to the major increase in vandalism and skater culture has been extremely controversial. In order to control the writer population, the Spark City Police Department and Spark City Council have worked with doctors and scientists around the city, paying them great deals of money to develop an artificial, airborne virus. Coloquially known by a few names such as the Beast Virus, Zoo Syndrome, and others, the pathogen would slowly transform it's host into an anthropomorphic animal-human hybrids. The idea was originally to make anyone affected isolated by their peers and society, and eventually make them extremely sick, leading to their death. The plan didn't work, however, and people affected have embraced this new side of themselves. It largely affected the writer population, however some average folks have contracted it as well.
